Welcome to AVID at LWHS
What is AVID at LWHS?
AVID is an acronym for Advancement Via Individual Determination.
AVID is designed to help college-bound students develop skills that result in a smoother transition to college life.
AVID supports the development of writing, critical thinking, teamwork, organizational and reading skills. Students then practice these skills in more challenging courses, such as Honors and Advanced Placement classes.
AVID helps students build relationship skills within the classroom to develop that sense of community that supports exponential growth.
As an AVID community, we encourage each other to challenge ourselves in a variety of ways. When we inevitably fall short at some point in the year, we, as a community, WILL lift each other up.
