1/25/21 - Sports Update
The KingCo Conference recently made a request to the WIAA regarding the order of athletic seasons, when those seasons will start, and the length of the seasons. The WIAA has approved KingCo’s request.
With an interest in protecting spring sports due to their lost season last year, the KingCo Conference will offer the following seasons:
- March 1 – April 3: Fall Sports (Boys Golf, Boys Tennis, Cross Country, Football (Feb. 24 start), Girls Soccer, Girls Swim and Dive, Slowpitch Softball, and Volleyball)
- April 5 – May 8: Winter Sports (Boys Basketball, Boys Swim, Competitive Cheer, Competitive Dance, Girls Basketball, Gymnastics (March 29 start), and Wrestling)
- May 3 – June 12: Spring Sports (Girls Badminton, Baseball, Boys Soccer, Fastpitch, Girls Golf, Girls Tennis, and Track)
The KingCo Athletic Directors, in concert with the KingCo Principals and KingCo Board of Directors/Superintendents, are in the process of developing a plan for schedules and agreed-upon health and safety measures to be implemented as conditions and regional metrics allow.
Changes to High School Athletic Seasons:

Reminder: LWSD fields remain closed - playgrounds, tennis courts and tracks are open to public on evenings and weekends
All LWSD Playgrounds, tracks and tennis courts will be closed to the public during the school day from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. All LWSD fields remain closed 7 days a week/24 hours per day. This is in accordance with city, county and state guidance. Playgrounds, tennis courts, and tracks are open to the public during evenings and weekends. Just a reminder that large, organized activities are not allowed. Play is limited to groups of 5 or fewer. Face coverings and 6 feet physical distancing are required. Hands should be washed after play. Please note that some elementary schools have childcare on site until 6:00 p.m. so play structures may be in use until that time.
We will update our communities as more of our facilities open to the public.
