KANG NEWS LOGO

KANG TV News is an award-winning weekly news and sports broadcast produced and presented by students in LWHS’s Broadcast Communications class. KANG TV and video production students have collectively won six (6) Northwest High School Production Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), NW region. We are proud to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of our students and advisors who represented Lake Washington School District (LWSD) and their schools at the DECA State Career Development Conference (SCDC). Their dedication, preparation and professionalism were on full display, resulting in an exceptional showing that reflects the strength of CTE Business & Marketing programs across the district. The event took place at the Meydenbauer Center & Hyatt Regency in Bellevue February 26-28.

Lake Washington School District students, and one teacher, earned top honors at the 2026 Central Sound Regional Science and Engineering Fair (CSRSEF), with strong participation, a record number of projects and awards spanning nearly every scientific discipline. It took place at Mountlake Terrace High School on March 7.

This year’s fair more than doubled in size from last year, featuring 440 student researchers from across the region. LWSD students made up a significant portion of the participants, with 42 students from Eastlake High School, 11 from Juanita High School, 30 from Redmond High School, 80 from Tesla STEM High School and eight from Lake Washington High School.

Students from Eastlake, Juanita, Redmond and Lake Washington high schools showed up and showed out at the Washington State Thespian Festival in Seattle, March 12-13, 2026, with each school coming away with honors. Students presented a year’s worth of work from their respective theatre programs in the categories of participation, community service and production to qualify for Gold Honors, the highest recognition given to high school theatre programs by the Educational Theatre Association.
